Bovine Transferrin (inactivated virus), Transferrin

Product Description:
Transferrin is the main Iron Transferrin in plasma, which provides iron for cell internalization and cell metabolism. Studies have found that all cells cannot grow without transferrin. Not only does maintaining normal cell metabolism depend on iron in bioactive form, iron is also a cofactor of some enzymes, such as RNA polymerase and DNA synthase. It is also an important part of hemoglobin.
Transferrin is a plasma glycoprotein, which is separated from plasma. Bovine transferrin exists in two molecular forms, namely, the molecular weight is 74kd and 78kd respectively. Each transferrin molecule can bind two molecules of iron ions through the C-terminal and N-terminal structural sites, so transferrin exists in three forms: de iron (not bound to iron ions), saturated iron (bound to two molecules of iron ions) and partially saturated. Under physiological conditions, only 1/3 of transferrin molecules are saturated by iron.
Specification:
1.0g/10.0g
Quality Control:
The quality of products is controlled from the source. Bovine plasma is customized from formal farms for formal inspection and quarantine. The transferrin purified by multi-step chromatography needs to be inactivated at 60 ℃ for 10h, and then used with 0.1 μ M filter membrane filtration. Finally, the product should be tested including purity, endotoxin, pH, iron content, moisture, microbial limit, etc., to ensure that the product meets the requirements of cell culture.
Purity: tested by SDS-PAGE, the purity is greater than 95.0%
Endotoxin: less than 20eu/mg
Instructions:
Transferrin is necessary for most cell lines to grow in serum-free medium. Studies have shown that transferrin in saturated iron form is the most effective form for promoting cell growth. For hybridomas, adherent cells and suspension cell lines, the concentration of transferrin in the culture medium should be maintained at 0.5-100μg/ml during cell culture。 For different cell lines, the most appropriate concentration needs to be selected.
Transferrin lyophilized powder needs to be stored in cold storage and dissolved before use.Generally, PBS or other suitable solvents are used to dissolve transferrin lyophilized powder into storage solution at room temperature, with a concentration of 0.5-2.0mg/ml, and then filter it with sterile filter membrane. The filtrate can be stored at 2-8 ℃ for 30 days under sterile conditions. For long-term storage, please store it at -80 ℃ after subpackaging.
